The models shown above were a couple of S.P. Class "C9" models we worked over
back in the early 1970's. They started out their lives as Balboa Scale
Models imports, constructed for them by by Katsumi (KTM). Slightly visible from
this angle are the "Roseville Smoke Deflector" on the second engine and some of
the many piping changes we made to the models so as to better represent their
respective prototypes.
We used 22 mm MicroMo Motors in most of our early Foreground Models ®, so they were virtually silent electrically, yet had gobs of power. This old pair of locomotives sure did roll some miles for us back in our "pre-Sn3" days... The photo was taken on our old HO Layout when we lived in Chama, New Mexico. Probably around 1975... Focal depth could have been better, but that was as good as the old "EXA" camera we had back then could do... And although the cab on number 2592 looks crooked from this angle, it really isn't... And of course, with this setup, there's no going back...Funny how photography can play dirty tricks on you sometimes...
