Here's how the "OY" looked from the very early 1940's until she was repainted with the "Flying Herald" in 1952. To the surprise of some, this MOW equipment was well maintained, rarely looking more than only slightly weathered. The reason ? Well sir, when the "OY" was needed, the crew would have precious little time to get it ready for service. That was NOT the time for a major rebuilding !
Our extra cold looking winter scene portrays how we remember the equipment in the Chama Yards looking through much of the winter months. Ambient temperature ? Oh, around 6 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take a few. . . . Brrrrrrr. . . ..
