Finally! "The Real Thing"! The #2 Shay of the Michigan-California Lumber
Company, Exquisitely Painted by the Factory as it looked towards the end of its
long, colorful career! The "Worlds Oldest Living Shay
Locomotive!"
Mich-Cal #2 was constructed in 1884! 'Way back before the turn of the century..
( The 20th century, mind you! ) And it was in service right up until the end of
operations in 1951.. Rumor has it that it was re-fired at least once after that
time by a group of enthusiasts operating under the name of "Camino, Cable &
Northern"... It is now on permanent display in Redding, California..
