Our ''take'' on the Blunamis!

SOUNDTRAXX has recently released a NEW version called the BLUNAMI .. What's a Blunami, you ask? There will be a link at the bottom of this page to take you to Soundtraxx's site.. But for now, we'd like to tell you why we think this is such a GREAT IDEA! OKay? Let's go!

Although adding some extra cost on our end, based on popular opinion of those who reserved these mallets, we have decided to go with TSUNAMI DCC/SOUND for the Mallet Production Models! Because, AND THIS IS EXCITING , they have just released a NEW version called the BLUNAMI..

What's a Blunami, you ask? Basically it takes your Sound equipped models out of the, uhhh, early 2000's and into the future! (You can download a FREE APP from your App store to check it out..) But basically it's WIRELESS CONTROL OF YOUR BLUNAMI EQUIPPED MODELS THAT YOU OPERATE DIRECTLY FROM YOUR CELL PHONE!

Why is this cool? Well, for starters, if you're the kind of guy that likes to tinker with your sounds and resetting CV's and the like, and dealing with "programming tracks", and the ever present possibilty that you might screw up and send you loco's decoder into lala land and end up having to replace it? YOUR ISSUES / APPREHENSION / FRUSTRATION and that SICK FEELING are over! How? Read on amigo, read on!

With the Blunami APP you can select a new whistle, or exhaust, or air pump, or bell right on your phone!And listen to it! And adjust the volumes of any of these features immediately, ON THE FLY!

You can now adjust how those sounds actually SOUND, like: More Reverb? Less Reverb? More Bass? Less Bass? Timing sequences for like the guy shoveling coal; Bell ringing rate and the like, ON THE FLY!On any other of the Hundreds of features formerly available only by setting CVs..

You can modify throttle responses to better correspond to the "tonnage" (weight) of your train - ON THE FLY!

Plus you can add or delete consists.. ALL WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE OF CV VALUES or SETTINGS! Just find the feature you want to change, (for instance the whistle..), select it on your Phone App, then select from a list of 80 or so optional other whistles, tap to select one, give it a listen, adjust its volume, press OK and... You've got it! No more CV's and guessing games!
Decide you don't like that one later? No worries! Just go back and listen to some others and find one that suits you better! Select it, and instantly your new whistle is ready for Prime Time!

And now you can control your model from any place that Blu Tooth can reach.. That's usually measured in METERS (Think: 'long" yards...) In our case, from Jimmy's "office"/workbench/test track to out on our back slab, 50-70 feet through four walls at least!! If your layout's bigger than that and you're not FOLLOWING the progress of your train????? I'm at a loss for words..) (And by now you know that's never been an issue for the likes of ol' Bill, right?)

Oh, did I mention this new "throttle" controls your BLUNAMI Equipped Loco DIRECTLY! All it needs is 12-14 volt DC power on the rails and you're good to go!

We're so impressed that Jim and I have already downloaded the software on our iPhones (Free on the APP Store..), and are playing with it on a Blunami equipped model, in person right now!
(Well, not exactly RIGHT now.. I hate to say it but this mallet project has kept me so tied up that I've barely had a chance to come up for air.. So "Right Now" ol' Bill's occupied with trying to get these thoughts of his put down into writing that makes some kind of sense.. Obviously.. But Jimmy's been testing it up at his place and reports -0- drop-outs, where in the past his wireless DCC controller would occasionally "lose it".. (And this with wireless boosters placed around the room to boot! No fun..) With the Blunami on your phone, all it needs to do is "pair" your phone to the Blunami equipped model and bingo! You're ready to roll!

Oops: Just remembered.. To ally all fears about compatibility issues with previous Tsunami's, not to worry! Although your previous models will still require whatever you've been using until now to control your existing models, they will both co-exisit on the same rails just fine! The difference being that the Blunami controls each Blunami equipped locomotive direct, via Bluetooth.. Not over the rails.. Which, by the way, is another plus!
(You can also run your Blunami equipped models using your current DCC system..)
