THE 55 TON SHAY STORY..

The 55 ton Shays, or "55 tonners" arrived in March of 2007.. With but only 80 models produced, total, and each hand crafted in Lifetime Brass, the term "Limited Production" took on real meaning!

The prototypes for these two truckers were of pretty fair size, considered by LIMA as being 55 tonners.. #5 had the earliest construction date, 1902, and she was still on the roster in 1950.. Not too bad for a cantankerous old teakettle that had a propensity towards "heading for the woods" at times. . .

Click on any of the photos above to access a site featuring that locomotive / version. You'll note that had "intended" to chronicle each of the "Special Order" Shays which came in with this project, but time being what it is? ? ? Let's just say that, in spite of the fact that we did, indeed get a number of photos of each of these unique shays, "we" didn't get to chronicle them all.. Dare I say "Because there's never enough time in a day? Sigh..."

If you are a Shay Lover, a Geared Locomotive aficionado, or just appreciate fine art, you need to have a look at the models on these pages. They were just plain beautiful!

These models have long been sold out...

We rarely ever see one come up for sale..
But if one is on your radar, call or text Keren and she'll add you name to her "Wanted" list .. Who knows? One might turn up in which case she'll contact you..
